Outdoor Expo gives families a day to learn and explore
Thousands of people headed out to Ft. Kearny Recreation Area on Saturday for chances to explore what the outdoors has to offer.
Nebraska Game and Parks officials say this year's 11th-annual Ft. Kearny Outdoor Expo is on track to be a record year for attendance. They say their mission 11 years ago was to do something positive for this area - to get people to learn about Nebraska's rich outdoor heritage, and enjoy the varieties of activities the outdoors can offer.
"We want families to learn about Nebraska's rich heritage about hunting, shooting, hunting and shooting sports, fishing, camping, park activities outdoor pursuits of all kinds," said Nebraska Game and Parks Assistant Administrator of Communication Jeff Rawlinson. "And they're doing that and they're having a great time doing that so we're just thrilled to see all the families' smiling faces."
Plans are already underway for next year's event.
