State Fair appoints Lori Cox as new Executive Director (NTV News)

The 2018 State Fair is now under some new leadership. The state fair board has officially announced Lori Cox of Montana as the new Executive Director. Cox takes on this position after working as the general manager for the Big Sky County State Fair in Bozeman, Montana. Cox said she is no stranger to the ag world and that the heartland of Nebraska is one thing she is most excited for.

"Those things foster from a farm family of which I come from, and even though we don't have the diversified crop background in Montana as they do in Nebraska, I sure have a complete understanding for all the ways and needs of all things ag," said Cox.

Cox said one of her greatest strengths is listening to her coworkers and the community. Board chair, Chris Kircher, said there were many great candidates for the job but she stuck out.

"Look at what she's done in the past, is outstanding. I think personality wise, she is exactly what this fair needs, she's obviously a go–getter,” said Kircher.

Cox called the Nebraska State Fair a Fortune 100, out of the 4,000 fairs in the US. She said she already feels like she fits in, as she drove into town with her Husker red pick-up.

She brings more than 26 years of similar experience, including 12 years in fairs and venue management. She has a background in 4-H and production agriculture.

“Words cannot begin to express just how excited I am about this opportunity,” said Cox. “The Nebraska State Fair has a long, rich history of providing an entertaining and educational venue that showcases the people, talent and products of Nebraska. I believe there’s an opportunity to build upon this heritage, while accelerating the steady growth that the Fair has seen, particularly in recent years. I look forward to working with the staff, Fair partners, the community of Grand Island and the people of Nebraska.”

“Lori Cox is the ideal person to lead the Nebraska State Fair into the future,” said Chris Kircher, chair of the Nebraska State Fair Board. “The Board is thrilled to have attracted such an experienced and proven leader who can build upon the momentum we’ve established, while taking the Fair to new levels of success.”

Ms. Cox assumes leadership of the Nebraska State Fair effective immediately, and she is in the process of relocating to Grand Island.
