Suspect arrested after alleged assault, police chase
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said the North Platte 911 center got a call about an assault in Hershey Friday night.
They say the suspect fled the scene and drove west toward Sutherland.
According to the sheriff's office, a deputy tried to stop the car. The driver then turned the vehicle around and started driving at the patrol car. The driver began to flee again and the vehicle became airborne at the railroad crossing on Prairie Trace Road and again on an open trail road into trees where it came to a stop. At this point, the driver fled into the river bottom. Police were unable to locate him Friday night.
The next day deputies arrested 22-year-old Robert Nugent in the same location as the assault.
They arrested him for third degree assault, flight to avoid arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, driving under suspension and obstruction of justice.
