Suspect leads police on chase through several counties early Sunday morning
McCOOK, Neb. —
Police pursued a vehicle through several counties early Sunday morning.
According to the McCook Police Department, they were contacted by the Dundy County Sheriff's Office to watch for a 2009 white Chevrolet Impala with 79 county plates driven by a Hispanic male. The man in the vehicle was sought in connection to an assault in Dundy County.
McCook Police observed the suspect driving in McCook around 3:07 a.m. on Dec. 10. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled eastbound out of McCook.
Police continued to pursue the vehicle at speeds over 80 mph eastbound on Highway 6/34. A Red Willow County Sheriff's deputy joined the pursuit which continued through several counties. Officers from Furnas County, Phelps County, Holdrege Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) assisted in the pursuit.
The vehicle was stopped at 4:07 a.m. after NSP deployed spike strips in Holdrege. The suspect was then taken into custody.
Charges are pending and the suspect's name has not been released.
