Teen accused in Ogallala murder requests case be sent to juvenile court

Amedaus Leroux (Nebraska State Patrol)

A teen accused in an Ogallala murder is trying to get his case sent back to juvenile court.

Amedaus Leroux, 16, is charged with 2nd degree murder and a weapons count in the death of John Fratis, 25, in March.

The then 15-year-old was then found in Colorado after authorities released surveillance video.

Keith County court officials told NTV News, a judge is taking the request under advisement after Wednesday’s hearing.

They said a decision could be made in the next 7 to 10 days.

Under Nebraska law, a suspect cannot be sentenced to death or life without the possibility of parole in juvenile court.

Leroux is currently out on bond.
