Stronger than ever: State Fair kicks off 8th year in Grand Island

State Fair leaders say the fair is strong than ever, as they kick off the 8th year in Grand Island.

It started Friday with opening ceremonies.

State Fair leaders say it's a time to show off what they've been working on all year.

Lindsey Koepke of the State Fair 1868 Foundation said their donor base is growing. Last year they had a $750,000 campaign for construction of the new equine arena.

Our very own Steve White was master of ceremonies as the fair held opening events Friday.

A long list of VIPs including Lt. Gov. Mike Foley, Ag Director Greg Ibach, and others praised the fair's growth, while not losing focus on agriculture.
