Utah firefighters return home from California wildfires
SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) - Almost two dozen firefighters from Utah will be sleeping in their own beds tonight. Twenty-three of them arrived back in the Beehive State Saturday, from California. They’ve been out there fighting wildfires for more than two weeks. The procession of firetrucks arrived on Saturday afternoon. Spouses, kids were gathered, all delighted to have their loved ones home for the holidays.
Among the first responders, Jeremy Robertson – a UFA firefighter. He has been gone for 17 days battling both the Lilac and Thomas firefighters. Authorities say the Thomas fire is now the largest wildfire on record in California. Robertson has been keeping in touch with his family daily via text message. His wife and four children are thrilled he made it back home safely to them.
