Centura boys' basketball has had their share of ups and downs this season. The Centurions came into the week 5-6. Looking to get back above .500. With a tough pair of games coming up, the team turned to forward Joe Carey.

"He's a young guy that has just had to learn how to play harder" said coach Dave Oman. " And I don't think he realized how good he can be. You know he's starting to realize that you know and he's starting to play harder."

Centura had their hands full with a talented Doniphan-Trumbull squad. That contest brought out the best in Carey. The sophomore forward took over the game shooting 12/14 totaling 25 points as the Centurions emerged victorious 64-57. Carey is quick to deflect the praise.

"Just my teammates feeding me the ball. Just helping me keep the same intensity the whole game" said Carey. "Them just being there for me. Pushing me the whole game."

With a tough pair of games coming up, the Centurions will rely on Carey to lead the way.
