Athlete of the Week: Kearney Catholic's Kylie Thiele

Kearney Catholic’s Kylie Thiele began the year 2017 with a bang. Thiele helped the Stars add to their 10 game win streak keeping KCHS at the top of the Class C1 rankings.

"As a senior this year she's kind of matured and is willing to do some of the other things on the basketball court that make her an all around better player," said Head Coach Rick Petri. "She's going to the basket more. She leads our team in assists."

Last week in Kearney Catholic’s game against Wood River, the senior provided a spark shooting 4/6 from 3-point range. Thiele finished with 14 points in the 74-38 victory.

"We moved the ball really well during that game, said Thiele. "Whenever we would get it inside it would open up outside shots for our shooters and then we would make shots and it would open stuff up inside and it just worked out pretty well."

The next night, Kylie continued her role as the Stars hot hand. Thiele connected on 11 of her 17 shots as KCHS cruised past the GICC Crusaders 66–38. Thiele knocked down 62 percent of her attempts behind the arc as the Stars improved to 12–0.

"Well my dad always tells me shooting is a lot about confidence so I guess I had to gain my confidence back after a couple of down games but it was nice to find a rhythm last week," Thiele said.
