Athlete of the Week: Overton's Keith Murphy
Overton's Keith Murphy entered the week with one game circled on his calendar. A matchup against his old team Elwood.
"Going into the gym playing against them, instead of playing with them," said Keith Murphy. "So it's definitely a weird feeling but it definitely felt good to put on a show and put on a pretty good one."
The senior scored a season–high 21 points on 10/15 shooting as the Eagles defeated Elwood on their home floor, 67–32.
But Keith was just heating up. Murphy averaged 16 points in Overton's victories over Pleasanton, Eustis–Farnam, and Shelton.
"To us we're still Overton. We're still the team." said Murphy. "So we definitely feel that we can turn some heads this year and I think we've done that."
"He's definitely motivated to finish everything that we've started and we've talked about building all along," said head coach Clint Little. "He's one of those kids that's working every day to try and build. They all want to get the job done next week in the FKC and then throughout February with districts and hopefully getting up to the state tournament."
The Eagles will face Wilcox–Hildreth on Tuesday at 6:00 in the quarterfinals of their conference tournament.
