Husker buyouts: $379,000 a month going to fired employees
LINCOLN, Neb. —
Former Husker football head coach Mike Riley will be paid $170,000 a month until February 2020, according to ESPN. He's owed just over $6 million on his contract.
Riley's contract was extended this year by former athletic director Shawn Eichorst less than two weeks before he was fired.
Bo Pelini is also still getting a check from Nebraska.
The former head coach gets $128,000 each month until February 2019.
According to the Omaha World Herald, former athletic director Shawn Eichorst - who hired Riley - is being paid roughly $81,000 a month until June of 2019.
It is important to note that Nebraska Athletics is self-funded, meaning no taxpayer money is going toward these payments.
