Nebraska assistant coach Bob Elliott passed away this weekend after a lengthy battle with cancer. The Iowa City native spent a remarkable 38 years on the sidelines with 9 different schools.

Among his coaching stops include his alma mater, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Notre Dame.

Coach E was hired back in February as the safeties coach before being reassigned to a defensive analyst position just a few weeks ago. Elliott spoke with the media back during spring practice about how he's always wanted to be a part of a great football tradition like Nebraska.

"Always had great respect for Nebraska and this would have been a place I would have loved to be, great tradition, great players, great coaches and not to far away from my home in Iowa, just an ideal situation for me right now," said Elliott.
