Nebraska regains confidence in 2 Big Ten wins
It's amazing what winning can do for a team's psyche. Just over two weeks ago, optimism in the Nebraska football program was pretty low following a loss at home to Northern Illinois. Fast forward to current day and a 2 game winning streak to begin Big Ten play, and Big Red is feeling a lot better about themselves.
Granted the two wins were against cellar dwellers Rutgers and Illinois. Both sides of the ball have come a long way in those two games. The Huskers offense averaged 358 yards in their last two victories while putting up 27 points per contest. The Blackshirts held the Scarlet Knights and the Illini to under 200 yards of offense. There may be some truth to that adage that winning cures all ills.
" I would say there’s an excitement about playing football right now for them that is contagious throughout the team.," said Head Coach Mike Riley. "The work has been really consistent with this team. It’s a good group of people that have always worked hard. We’ve been rewarded with better and better play in the last little play – they have been– and I expect that to continue."
Huskers with a challenging game this weekend when they welcome number 9 Wisconsin to Lincoln. 7 pm kick over on BTN. We'll have plenty of coverage on that matchup as the week progresses.
