Spielman catches prestigious honor
Nebraska freshman wide receiver JD Spielman was named to the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-American team.
Historic for Nebraska and for the Big Ten, as he is only the second wide receiver in conference history to land on this team since it’s 2002 inception when Purdue's Taylor Stubblefield made the roster of recognition.
Spielman set Big Red frosh records with 55 catches and 830 yards receiving in 2017 while leading the nation's first-year players with 75.5 receiving yards per game.
Electric in the return game as well, the Eden Prairie, Minn. native led Nebraska with 1,572 all-purpose yards, averaging 17.1 yards every time he touched the ball.
