Bronco men survive tight one at home
HASTINGS, Neb. —
Hastings College got 21 points from senior Connor Musiel and the Broncos were able to beat Midland, 82-76, Wednesday night at Lynn Farrell Arena.
The Broncos led by as many as nine in the first half, but Midland was able to scratch back into it and tie it at 38 by halftime. Every time the Broncos tried to pull away, the Warriors would have a response, yet the Warriors only led for 5:39 and 4:55 of it was at the start of the game.
Musiel shot 8-for-14 from the field, helping the Broncos hit on 42.9 percent of their shots as a team. They were also sharp from downtown, connecting on 7-of-17 three-point attempts.
Kevin Miller and Jake Hansen each had 15 points for hte Broncos, while Bart Hiscock recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Midland's Chase Parsons was just as effective as Musiel from the field (8-for-14), scoring 20 points for the Warriors. Marti Fonolla added 14 and Tyler Craven had 15 on a very productive 7-for-11 effort.
Reggie Gradwell had a great block on Miller on the opening possession for Hastings College, one of six blocks by the Warriors.
Hastings College (12-6 Overall, 2-4 GPAC) is home again Saturday when Dordt visits Lynn Farrell Arena at 4 p.m.
