The Hastings College women's basketball team fought until the end but it wasn't quite enough as the Broncos fell to No. 2 Concordia 77-65 on Wednesday night in Walz Arena.

Shandra Farmer led the Broncos with 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Mackenzie Willicott added 12 points as she was 6-for-7 from the line and Holly Hild also finished in double figures with 11.

Taylor Cockerill led all scorers for the Bulldogs with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting and Quinn Wragge had 13 points plus seven rebounds.

It was the start the Broncos were looking for against one of the best teams in the country rattling off the first nine points of the contest as Shandra Farmer got things going with a free throw followed by a bucket in the paint from Holly Hild to make it 3-0.

Hild would then connect from downtown followed by a three from Jordan Johnson to make it 9-0 before Concordia finally got on the board with a Cockerill bucket nearly four minutes into the game.

When the first period was over, Hastings clung to a 20-10 lead. CU would climb back into the game in the second quarter and ended up tying the game 34-34 before Willicott connected on an and one to give Hastings a 37-34 halftime lead.

From there, the game stayed tight throughout the third quarter and deep into the fourth quarter when Farmer connected on a jumper to bring Hastings to within one at 64-63 with just over three minutes remaining.

But on back-to-back possessions, the Bulldogs would get put backs following missed baskets that grew the lead to five as Hastings would be unable to any closer.

Hastings falls to 8-2 (3-2) on the season and will be back in action Saturday Dec. 9 as No. 6 Dakota Wesleyan comes in with tip-off set for 2:00 p.m. at Lynn Farrell Arena.
