Lansman out muscles Gorillas in Loper win
KEARNEY, Neb. —
Senior Trey Lansman went off for 39 points and 20 rebounds, helping Nebraska-Kearney to a 101-89 overtime victory Thursday night at the Health and Sports Center against Pittsburg State.
Lansman got plenty of help from Yashua Trent, who teed off on the Gorillas for 24 points and came up two rebounds shy of a double-double. The duo helped UNK out board the Gorillas by 14 in the game.
Pittsburg State got a great night scoring wise from Xavier Adams with his 25 on 53.3% shooting but as a team they could only hit 43.5% of their shots while the Lopers connected on 57.1%.
UNK went to the half with a 49-45 lead, but surrendered it in the final 3:32 of the game after a couple of Lansman free throws made it 81-77. Grant Lozoya hit a three pointer with 2:45 to cut the deficit to one for Pittsburg State. With six seconds remaining, Jaxon HOlden hit one of two free throws to tie it at 81. The Lopers went on a field goal drought for the final 4:11 of the second half.
The Lopers (4-5, 1-0) now prepare for a game against Missouri Southern on Saturday at 4 p.m. CT in Kearney.
