Lopers slugged by Sioux Falls
On a day when hand warmers were necessary at Memorial Field, Sioux Falls used their bats instead, to beat UNK 11-7.
Brent Jarvis of Sioux Falls went 6-for-6 with two doubles and knocked in three runs, but he was one of many hot bats.
The teams combined for 18 runs on 29 hits. The damage could've been more but a total of 25 runners (13 for USF and 12 for UNK) were left on base as five double plays were turned.
UNK junior designated hitter Dallas Schramm went 3-for-5 and had a team-leading three RBI, and junior shortstop Scott Platt was right on his heels going 3-for-4 and two RBI.
The Cougars (2-5) used four different pitchers while the Lopers (7-12) sent 10 players to the mound in a game that lasted 3:58.
The second-ranked Central Missouri Mules (15-4, 5-1) come to Memorial Field for three MIAA games this weekend. First pitch Friday is set for 2:00 p.m.
