Hastings College women's basketball turned the Tyson Events Center into upset city Saturday night, knocking off the two-time defending champs of Marian University, advancing to the quarterfinals.

The Broncos came charging from the get go, holding a team ranked sixth in league for field goal percentage to only making thirty percent from the floor.

An achievement which could only be done behind a highly skilled Broncos defense.

"Their two guards are so good," head coach Douglas said. "We felt like ok they've run so many sets and they're so good at man, so we switched to zone and take away their tendency's," Douglas continued.

"You know their point guard is so good going to the right, great passer going to the right, so we tried to take away the right as much as possible. For the most part it worked, some shots that she probably makes."

"That helped us out, but I thought our kids did a really good job of just sticking to the game plan, and playing out through the hole game and just sticking with it."

The Broncos continue their run in the NAIA tournament tonight against St. Xzavier. Tip-off at 8:00 p.m.
