Sodbusters cage Sasquatch to snap skid
HASTINGS, Neb. —
Matt Hess got his first start of the season for Hastings and led the Sodbusters to victory and ended a four game losing streak, 6-3, over the Spearfish Sasquatch.
Hess went 6.0 innings and scattered five hits, while only giving up two runs, one earned, in the fourth inning.
Drew Bailey also made his Sodbusters debut and impressed with a three-hit night while driving in a couple of runs and earning a walk. His .800 on-base percentage allowed him to touch home on a couple of occasions as well.
Justin Henry (2 of 4, 2 runs) and Tyler Daugherty (2 of 4, run) were the only other 'Busters with a multi-hit game, as the trio garnered seven of the nine Hastings hits and Daugherty also picked up the save by getting the final out of the night.
Breyden Eckhout also showed up on Monday's game at Duncan Field. The Iowa Western CC product had a hit and an RBI while manning the hot corner.
Hastings improves to 4-6 this year and they play the Sasquatch (5-5) again Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. CT.
