Tri-City Storm claim victory in season opener
RALSTON, Neb. —
The Tri-City Storm overcame a first-period deficit on Friday night to top the hosting Omaha Lancers 2-1, according to a press release by the Storm.
The season opening victory gives the Storm momentum heading into an Oct. 13 matchup against Sioux City.
Omaha opened the scoring Friday night at Ralston Arena with a first-period goal from Tyler Carpenter. The goal scored at 13:13 of Period 1 was assisted by Marshall Rifai, and Noah Cates.
Tri-City got their first goal of the season by Charlie Dovorany at the 2:12 mark of the second period. Dovorany was assisted by Jake Crespi.
The moment of the game came on the powerplay in the third period when Tyler Ward blasted one by Zach Driscoll to give the Storm the lead with 10:48 left. The game winning goal was assisted by Bryan Yoon and Connor McMenamin.
Tyler Ward was named the game’s First Star. Second Star went to winning Storm goaltender Filip Larrson. Tyler Carpenter’s opening goal gave him Third Star honors for the Lancers.
