Coach Casey Fangmeyer Honored by Alma Mater
Hastings College has awarded a local high school coach as The Outstanding Alumni Coach of the Year. This is given to a Hastings graduate who's shown exceptional achievement in coaching.
Casey Fangmeyer, who played baseball for the Broncos back in 1992–1994.
Is now honored by his Alma Matter for his success and achievements as a coach.
Fangmeyer's been the head Girls basketball coach at Red Cloud for the past 19 years.
There he helped lead the warriors to their first ever state qualification in 2000.
Where the team finished as the State Runner–Up.
An experience he remembers changing the lives of many athletes.
"This award is great I'm excited for it and everything," Fangmeyer said. "But it goes back to touching kids lives and having an impact on them through athletics and taking them to places they don't get to experience," Fangmeyer continued. "They taught me as much as I could teach them out on the floor and that's what it's about here with me."
Now that coach Fangmeyer reached this mile–stone in his career, he says he has much to look forward to in the future.
"For the last 19 years and 21, 22 years coming up I've kind of been chasing everyone else's kids around," Fangmeyer stated.
"Now when I come to close my career out I'm going to be chasing my own kids," Fangmeyer continued. "So it's going to be fun chasing them around through the basketball season and hopefully all the other seasons that they want to go out and play sports in."
Coach Fangmeyer's scheduled to be recognized at the Hastings College Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony on September 30th.
