Gauge McBride honored to represent Kearney at rodeo nationals

The High School Rodeo State Finals finishing up yesterday at the Adams County Fairground in Hastings. Kearney native Gauge McBride, was one of three to qualify for the finals in bareback riding and he made the most of it. McBride only a freshman in high school took home a state title in the event tallying 168 points to take home the state trophy. Gauge telling us afterwards he's happy to see all his practice time pay off.

" It feels awesome, " said McBride. " Making nationals is a big deal, it's going to be fun. Going from Kearney is going to be awesome. A lot of practice, a lot of hard work. It was fun though, a lot of fun. I love it."

Next stop for McBride is Gillette, Wyoming for the national rodeo finals. The event will run from July 16th–22nd.
