Hawkettes nip Northwest in overtime
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. —
St. Cecilia continued its battering ram of a schedule with a 41-38 victory over class B Northwest (7-5) Tuesday night in Grand Island.
Following their victory over the Vikings, the Hawkettes (9-1) have now faced a schedule against schools with a combined 68-43 mark and a majority of their ten games have been against teams in a higher class. Only two of their first ten opponents have a record below .500.
The remaining slate of games for St. Cecilia does not have any other teams from C2 standing until districts. They may still face another school from their class at the Centennial Conference tournament, Jan. 22-27.
Having won four of five earlier this season, Northwest has dropped two straight and three of the last four. The Viking schedule doesn't appear to be too taxing the rest of the way with only three teams currently at least two games above .500 (as of Tuesday evening) outside of possible match ups looming at the Central Conference tournament, Jan. 22-27.
The Vikings are amidst a string of three consecutive games against the high schools from Hastings with Adams Central next on Jan. 12 at home.
