St. Cecilia toppled by Neligh-Oakdale

Grant Schmidt (3) goes up for a shot against Neligh-Oakdale in the C2 semifinal, March 10, 2017 (NTV News)

One of the most dominant runs in the last 10 years of Nebraska state basketball came to an early end as Neligh-Oakdale stunned St. Cecilia 55-50 in the C2 semifinal.

Grant White had six three pointers, seven fourth-quarter free throws, and 30 points in the Warrior victory.

The Bluehawks raced out to an 11-2 lead in the beginning of the game. Blaine Boyd had 19 of his 25 points in the first half.

But there was no answer for White in the second half when he scored 18.

Saint Cecilia held Neligh-Oakdale without a field goal in the final quarter, yet the Warroirs went 12-for-19 from the charity stripe.

The C2 Nebraska state championship pits the Warriors up against Ponca, who topped Elmwood-Murdock, 50-45 in the other semi.
