Body Found in Cozad Canal is Local Burglary Suspect

Dawson County officials say a body recovered from a local canal turned out to be that of a burglary suspect. The body of 34-year-old James Houchin was pulled from the Cozad Canal near Gothenburg Thursday night. Houchin was reported missing on July 1, then two days later an arrest warrant was issued for his suspected involvement in a burglary. Initial reports say drowning was the cause of death, but the body is being sent for an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.
