Leadership Tomorrow Duck Derby Set for Aug. 15


The 13th annual Duck Derby benefiting Leadership Tomorrow is set to take place on Saturday, Aug. 15 at lsland Oasis in Grand Island.

The derby will take place at 10 a.m. in the Lazy River. It also includes a free Kids Festival that begins at 8:30 a.m.

The event benefits Leadership Tomorrow, a nine month leadership program for men and women in Hall County.

Winners of the duck derby are eligible for more than $10,000 in prizes including the Grand Prize of $5,000 cash. Additional cash prizes are $1,500, $1,000, $500, and $250.

New this year, all 17 race winners have a chance to win a new $35,000 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport 4X4.

Ducks may be adopted for $5 a duck, a Quack Pack of 6 ducks for $25, a Flock of 13 ducks for $50 and a Max Pack of 28 ducks for $100.

Ducks are sold at: Roy’s Grand, South Locust; The Grand Island Independent, 422 W. First; any sponsor location and some Leadership Tomorrow alumni, class or board members; Duck Central at the GI Chamber of Commerce, 309 W. 2nd St.

In addition, “Duck Out Early” will be held on August 5. “Duck Out Early” takes place at the Barn Bar in the Cattle Barn on the State Fairgrounds. The event includes music, beverages, hors d’oeuvres, duck sales and prize raffles.
