Two Accidents in Stromsburg Leaves One Dead and One with Life Threatening Injuries
Multiple accidents in eastern Nebraska leaves one man dead and another with life threatening injuries.
Authorities say Donald Baker, 86, of Stromsburg, has died from a collision with a semitrailer.
The Nebraska State Patrol says Donald Baker was driving his pickup south on U.S. Highway 81 Thursday afternoon when he turned in front of a northbound tractor-trailer.
The semi was driven by 67-year-old Donald Glanzer, of Bridgewater, S.D.
Officials say Baker died at the scene while Glanzer wasn't injured.
The accident is being investigated.
Earlier the same day, another accident left one man with severe injuries.
Authorities say a collision occurred just before 7 a.m. Thursday north of Stromsburg in eastern Nebraska.
The Nebraska state Patrol says 74-year-old Barney Nuget, of Antler, N.D., was driving east on Highway 92 when his pickup left the roadway.
As the truck swerved back onto the road, Nuget lost control and collided with a westbound van.
Officials say the van driver, 59-year-old Steven Woolsey, received life threatening injuries. Nuget received only minor injuries.
This accident is also under investigation.
