The American Red Cross calling for blood donations.
Samantha Pollard from the American Red Cross says the month of May is National Trauma Awareness Month and it's a good time to remind everyone that in an emergency, hospitals are always looking for O negative blood types.
"O negative is something that we need and they use that because it's the national blood donor type so regardless of your blood type you can simply receive o negative,” said Pollard.
Pollard said it is very hard finding people who have O negative blood types.
"Not a lot of people have O negative. Less than 10percent of the population has it, but we do appreciate those donors who do have it and give their time,” said Pollard.
On May 1st, NTV will host its 14th annual blood drive.
The American Red Cross says blood donations make a huge impact in our community.
