HOLDREGE, Neb. — A new brewery opened in Holdrege and its name comes from an interesting story. A long winding path lead the families to Holdrege and allowed them to finally settle down and open a brewery.
"It's always something I've wanted to do," said president and CEO Mark Kraus.
After years of being lost, moving from place to place for work, the founding family of Lost Way Brewery have finally found a town to call home.
"We've been kind of wandering around the United States, and we found Nebraska," said Kraus. "If you look at our logo, in the background of the compass that's broken, is the state of Nebraska because we've been lost wondering and we've now found our way to our home. This is the perfect place to raise a family and also follow our dreams."
They operate on a four-barrel brewing system and feature six rotating tap handles.
"So, it's an experience for people to come in, find the beer they love and come back the next time a week later and it's not there any more," said Kraus. "So, it's going to be a great opportunity for people to expand their beer horizons, find new flavors that they like. We're yet to have somebody come in and not like something."
Lost Way Brewery has been open for about two weeks now, and they said the brewery is booming.
"Business is going great, I'd say beyond expectations," said Kraus. "Our opening night I don't think the beer stopped pouring for six hours. It was absolutely amazing and it hasn't not been steady since."
Lost Way Brewery is located at 614 3rd Avenue. Hours and menu can be found here.
