Early morning crash in Grand Island leaves two teens in critical condition
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – Two teenage sisters are in critical condition after an early morning crash on Highway 2 and North Road in Grand Island.
The Grand Island Police Department (GIPD) says that a 17-year-old and 14-year-old female were traveling westbound on Highway 2, and making a left turn onto North Road when they were struck by an eastbound vehicle.
Police received the call at 7:41 a.m. Wednesday morning just north of Grand Island Northwest High School.
They say that the 14-year-old was life-flighted to a different hospital, but couldn’t say where.
According to GIPD, the speed of the eastbound vehicle might be a factor and the driver of that vehicle did not require an ambulance.
Police are currently working on the reconstruction of the accident. They say the mother of the teens in critical condition was on the scene.
