Annual South Central Czech/Slovak festival hosted in Hastings
HASTINGS, Neb. —
People gathered in Hastings to celebrate their Czech and Slovak heritage on Saturday during the 43rd annual South Central Czech–Slovak festival at the Eagle's Club.
It's one of the oldest festivals in the state, with representatives of several different chapters across Nebraska attending.
"I really hope these do continue because they're fun, they are getting like high school, college students, people who are older in the community all together in one place to celebrate their heritage and it's great, it really is great." said 2018-2019 South Central Nebraska Czech/Slovak Queen ZitaAnne Reno.
Saturday's events included authentic food and items of Czech–Slovak culture, as well as demonstrations.
