Funds raised during Honey Sunday go back to community
It was a sweet end to the weekend with Honey Sunday.
The Arc of Central Nebraska and community volunteers sold honey for Honey Sunday.
Volunteer Brad Stahla said he is having fun while helping out.
The Arc started this effort in Grand Island 58 years ago to raise money so those with intellectual and developmental disabilities can live better lives.
But in Grand Island, they set up tables in various locations including SuperSaver and Shopko.
"We started it as a fundraiser to fund a special education teacher and it grew out into other parts of Nebraska and it became a national fundraiser," said Executive Director Audrey Defrank
"It helps you, it helps my handsome brother, and awesome brother," said Stahla hugging his fellow volunteer.
Defrank said every cent raised goes back into the community to help the disabled.
