Community members gather for tractor drive that donates to veterans
HASTINGS, Neb. —
The city of Hastings held the 3rd annual All Nebraska Tractor Drive in a two-day event to honor area veterans.
41 tractors took to the roads on Saturday to show off their antique models and raise money for the Grand Island Veteran’s Hospital.
By bringing out antique tractors that they rode when they were kids, Nelson Trambly a coordinator with the All Nebraska Tractor Drive, said it is not just about driving the tractors, but gathering with others who share similar interests.
He also said it's important to give back to those he said have sacrificed their lives.
"If it wasn't for the veterans, we wouldn't be a free country like we are and we wouldn't be able to do this stuff so it's just our way of showing a little appreciation for what they have done throughout their life, you know,” said Trambly.
The money donated will go towards recreational activities for veterans at the hospital.
Trambly told NTV News that they are already planning for next year’s drive, which he hopes to be out of Minden.
He said he also hopes to have 100 tractors in attendance.
If you didn't get a chance to catch this tractor drive, you can plan for the 35th annual show on Aug. 17 in Ayr.
