Crash on Highway 44 sends two to the hospital Friday morning

Two people were injured in a crash that slowed traffic on Highway 44 Friday morning.

The Kearney County Sheriff's Office said Zachary Kick, 26, was driving a Chevy HHR and was parked on the side of the road near U Road when it was hit by an Impala driven by a 16-year-old, who was headed north.

They said the teen and passenger Michael Koch, 44, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the sheriff's office with help from the Nebraska State Patrol and the Axtell fire department.

Kearney County Sheriff’s Office said that seat belts were in use.
