GIBBON, Neb. — 4:35 p.m. UPDATE: All lanes of Interstate 80 are back open and traffic is moving again as of 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Two people suffered minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 near mile marker 281 on Friday afternoon.
Police said the crash happened at around 3:25 p.m. in the westbound lanes just before a construction zone.
One vehicle was reportedly slowing down for construction and the vehicle behind didn't notice, crashing into the back of the first vehicle.
There was one person in each car, and one driver was transported to CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene of the crash.
The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office and the Nebraska State Patrol responded to the crash.
ORIGINAL: A crash in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 is keeping traffic at a standstill near Gibbon, as of 3:25 p.m. Friday.
First responders, including several troopers from the Nebraska State Patrol, responded to the crash at mile marker 281.
Drivers should avoid the area if possible until the roadway is clear.
The number of crash victims and their conditions were not immediately available.
