Driver causes $20,000 in damage to wet concrete in Grand Island

A driver caused $20,000 in damage after driving around construction barrels in Grand Island.

Grand Island police said a driver in a white SUV drove past the road closure barrels at 25-11 North Diers Avenue just before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

The construction crew said the newly-poured concrete was only partially cured when the driver passed through, resulting in a large amount of damage to the road.

Police say the driver will likely be charged with criminal mischief.
