Equipment fire at Baldwin causes $25,000 in damage
Firefighters quickly put out a fire that sparked this morning at Baldwin Filters, but not before it caused several thousand dollars worth of damage.
The Kearney Volunteer Fire Department said they responded with two fire trucks and one ladder truck to an equipment fire at the facility at 4400 E. Highway 30 at 7:10 a.m.
They said they found heavy smoke coming from the dust collector on one of their plasma cutters, and the fire was contained to just that piece of equipment.
Firefighters had the fire under control within 30 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
The cause is still undetermined, and they estimated that the fire caused $25,000 worth of damage to the equipment.
