GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — An Iowa casino operator has been picked to build a new casino resort in Grand Island.
Fonner Park announced Elite Casino Resorts has been selected to build a $100 million resort.

Fonner Park officials said they met with eight operators in person before making the decision.
Grand Island Casino Resort at Fonner Park will feature 650 slot machines with ability to add up to 850, 20 table games, a VIP Lounge and high limit slot area, according to Elite Casino Resorts officials.
They said a 116-room boutique hotel with indoor and outdoor pool and full service spa and salon is also planned, along with fine dining and casual restaurants.
Elite officials said $45 million will be spent on new construction and $3.45 million on renovating the existing Fonner Park property.
