HASTINGS, Neb. — A Hastings woman is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, accused of having a relationship with her student.
Hastings Police said Jeinny Ramos-Sotelo, 29, was arrested for enticement by electronic communications device.
According to records filed in Adams County Court, Ramos-Sotelo had an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old student while she was a English Language paraeducator at Hastings High School where the child was a freshman.
An officer said in the court filing that, on Friday, police talked to the boy, who said he was in love with Ramos and that the feelings are mutual. The student denied having any sexual contact, but said they had "made out" or kissed.
The student admitted to communicating with his teacher through text messages and phone apps almost daily, according to court records.
Hastings Public School officials told NTV they could not comment on personnel issues, but said that Ramos-Sotelo is no longer employed in the district as of Friday.
