Grand Island, NE -- Grand Island Northwest Superintendent Matt Fisher has notified staff that he intends to resign.
Staff members say Fisher sent an email Monday announcing his intentions, and he submitted his letter of resignation to the school board.
School Board President Dan Leiser said he had no comment, except to say there would be some matters to discuss at their Monday evening meeting. The agenda included an item for "staff resignations."
The district has spent a considerable amount of time the last few years trying to restructure, which at one point included plans to close the school in Chapman. That was later reversed. The district also proposed a middle school bond issue, but voters defeated the proposal.
