Grand Island police said more burglaries and attempted break-ins than usual were reported over the weekend.

Attempted burglaries reported between Friday and Monday morning:

  • Bucks Storage
  • The Peacock Lounge

Burglaries reported during same time:

  • 106 West Lane
  • Spin City Laundry
  • 1615 South Sylvan Street

Captain Jim Duering said because of their location and times it's not believed they're related at this time.

On Sylvan Street, police said seven watches worth nearly $800 were stolen from a home around 9:45 p.m. Friday.

On Saturday at about 3:00 p.m., another burglary was reported. Police said a computer and $4,000 was taken from house at West Park Plaza.

Duering said thieves went to a lot of trouble to make off with $50 from Spin City Laundry. That burglary was reported around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Police said the suspects got in through a bathroom, crawled through the ceiling tiles into an office and tampered with the alarm and surveillance video.
