We are just one day away from the Harvest of Harmony competition.

In Holdrege, band members are hoping to take home the Superior rating once again.

"They work all season for an eight-minute performance and it's so much work and coordination, " said Holdrege Band Director Morgan Sentelle.

This is Sentelle's third year with the band and she said it feels good teaching other students about band especially since she once was a band member.

"Trumpet is really a lot of mouth work and it's difficult sometimes to hit those high notes but it sounds really good when it all comes together in a band, " said Brayden Keffler, a trumpet player in the band.

"Marching band, in particular, is very rewarding especially since when get to come home with awards and it's a very rewarding experience to be a part of, said Blake Harvey, a tuba player in the band.

Harvey said he's been playing in the band for over seven years.

"It's a lot, but I do it because I love it. I mean I'm here three days out of the week, an hour early because our practice is an hour before school starts," said Maggie deFreese, a drum major in the band.

"And some of us have cheer practice on two of those days, so we go from 6:30 cheer practice straight to here, it's a lot but I have fun doing it," said Hannah Swearingen, the Colorguard captain for the band.

"I teach them what to do but we have such good leaders that you know they could do this if I were gone," said Sentelle.

"Band itself is a family and once you have that family, you don't want to leave," said Alexis Gill, a percussion player in the band.

"I'll definitely agree with that. The marching band is a super tight family compared to any other group I've been a part of. The band is closer to each other than any other group, said Justin Golus, a trombone player in the band.
