Hear Grand Island canceled due to storm threat
The opening night of the Hear Grand Island summer concert series has been canceled, due to the threat of severe weather.
Promoter Brent Lindner said they made the decision to cancel the Friday, June 1 kickoff. He said they were excited to start the season, but made the decision with safety in mind.
The National Weather Service says must of central Nebraska is at risk of severe weather this evening, with the possibility of large hail, damaging winds up to 70 miles an hour, and even the possibility of tornadoes.
This is the third season of the downtown concert series, that has brought thousands to the Railside Plaza in Grand Island.
Lindner invited people to attend the first concert, which will now by June 8. Concerts will take place every Friday night this summer.
