Kearney Fire Department responds to small home fire with 40 firefighters
KEARNEY, Neb, —
Forty firefighters and four trucks responded to a small home fire at the Countryside Trailer Court in Kearney on Monday night.
According to the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD), a surge protector failed and caught fire inside the mobile home of Danny Chambers.
Firefighters were called to the scene around 9:40 p.m. Upon arrival, crews found light smoke inside the trailer. The home owner had attempted to extinguish the flame prior to the firefighters' arrival, KVFD finished the job. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes. The total estimated loss was about $250.
According to the Fire Department, power was shut off until an electrician could examine the home. The American Red Cross responded and helped the two residents.
According to KVFD there were no injuries reported.
