Kearney bar owner honored for her continual support of fundraising efforts
Several from the Kearney community came together to surprise and honor a Kearney bar owner who helps organizations and individuals make their fundraising efforts a success. They gathered at Chug-A-Lug to honor Deanna Sayner-known as DeeRoe, to say 'Thank You' for hosting their events for the past several years.
Between nonprofit organizations like K–9 Freekz and the DAV, to those hosting a benefit for a loved one, they call her their hero, and the puzzle piece that keeps them all together.
And while DeeRoe says she was surprised by Sunday's events, she doesn't take any of the credit for what she's done.
"She's just in the last year she's done a whole lot for people and we just thought as a family that it would be nice to do something for her," said event co-organizer Hope Neilsen.
'"I see a lot of people love you'. Well, and they are loved too," said Chug-A-Lug owner Deanna Sayner. "And just what they've done today shows what all everybody bands together during a benefit and makes it a great one."
Dee–roe says she's been helping for about 15 years, and will continue to do so.
