Kearney Dancing With The Stars returns for second year
People in Kearney showed off their best moves during Dancing With The Stars on Saturday night.
It's the second year for the event which featured 12 professionals from the community.
Proceeds from Saturday night's event will benefit the Central Nebraska Veterans Memorial and other projects.
The Kearney Rotary Club put on the event and they said this event is unlike any other fundraiser in town.
"They approached us and based on what we have done in our first year working with several causes in Kearney, they wanted to partner with us. We thought it was a great cause and a great thing we could really build a whole evening off of a patriotic theme, so we've tried to do that,” said Kearney DWTS Executive Director Elizabeth Plinske.
Rotary club members also tell NTV they enjoy bringing the community together to have a good time while doing a little good at the same time.
The winners of the night:
People’s Choice: Jon Watts and Carrie Eighmey
Judge’s Choice: Mark Sutko and Marsha Wilkerson
On Saturday night they raised an unofficial amount of over $120,000. The net for the cause will take a week or so to calculate.
