Kearney leaders sticking to winter storm prep guidelines for future winter storms
Buffalo County officials are taking stock of how well the area fared now that the January 22nd storm has cleared out..
Buffalo County Emergency Management Director Darrin Lewis says they start preparing for the storm when it first starts brewing. They have several meetings with city and school officials leading up to the storm to make sure everyone is prepared.
Lewis says he felt everyone was ready for whatever came their way.
“Through the planning process we take all of those things into consideration," said Buffalo County Emergency Management Director Darrin Lewis. "And we plan for the worst case scenario and we hope for the best case scenario, and I think we met somewhat in the middle there.”
Lewis says they'll continue to follow the same procedures during future winter storms to make sure community leaders and citizens can prepare accordingly.
