KEARNEY, Neb. — Kearney is seeing a rise in thefts from vehicles this holiday season, with police reporting a string of stolen items in the same block earlier this week.
The Kearney Police Department said at least four unlocked cars had items stolen in the 700 block of W. 30th St., plus separate thefts nearby.
Police say, so far, only smaller items have been taken, including loose change and a checkbook, but they're warning that as people begin shopping for the holidays, they're expecting to see more gifts taken from unlocked vehicles.
They're asking people to double check for anything important after you park, and lock up.
