GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- UPDATE: The missing field worker has been found dead by authorities on Thursday.
ORIGINAL: Emergency crews in Hall County are on the lookout for a field worker who was last seen on Wednesday afternoon.
A sergeant with the Hall County Sheriff's Office said a 52-year-old migrant worker was detasseling corn west of Grand Island at Abbot and Schauppsville Roads and was last seen at around noon.
Officers said they've searched for the man with a helicopter and a private plane without success.
Field workers said they searched for the man on their own before notifying police at around 7:15 p.m.
As of 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Nebraska State Patrol was using a helicopter equipped with infrared cameras to aid in the search.
Police said the man may be disoriented due to the heat.
Police also said that if the worst were to happen, they believe NSP's infrared cameras will still be able to pick up a heat signature from a deceased person.
This is a developing story, and it will be updated as more information becomes available.
